Comprehensive Stool Analysis

The Comprehensive Stool Analysis can help assess digestive tract disorders like gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, IBS, and malabsorption. The testing helps your Naturopath objectively assess the status of your individualized bacterial ecosystem, identify any opportunistic infections present, and determine the efficacy of your digestive organs.
The Comprehensive Stool Analysis (by Doctor's Data) helps us understand the status of beneficial and imbalanced commensal bacteria of the gut, including any pathogenic bacteria and yeast/fungus. Furthermore, precise identification of infectious, or pathogenic species, as well as their susceptibility to natural and pharmaceutical therapies allows your practitioner to determine specific and targeted therapies to ensure you receive the greatest benefit from treatment.

Furthermore, important information regarding the ability of your gut to digestive and absorbed nutrients is determined by fecal biomarkers for these functions.

This test is useful for:

  • Gastrointestinal Symptoms
  • Autoimmune Disease
  • Joint Pain
  • IBD/IBS
  • Inflammation
  • Food Sensitivities
  • Nutritional Deficiencies
  • Skin Conditions (Atopic Dermatitis)

The stool testing markers include:

Marker
Indication
beneficial, imbalanced, and pathogenic flora
helps determine the status of the bacterial ecosystem in your digestive tract, including identification of any underlying pathogenic infections, like yeast
lysozyme, lactoferrin, white blood cells, secretory IgA and mucus
helps assess level of inflammation in the gut, aiding in differentiate between inflammatory bowel disease and IBS
elastase, fat, muscle and vegetable fibers, and carbohydrates
helps determine efficacy of digestion and absorption of vital nutrients, including pancreatic enzyme sufficiency
% of short chain fatty acids
a representation of adequate fibre intake
helps determine the ratios of beneficial bacterial populations, protecting against bacterial dysbiosis & healing from inflammation
susceptibilities of pathogenic bacteria
if pathogenic bacteria are present, they are assessed for susceptibility to recommended therapies, ensure bacterial resistance is minimized
If suspected, parasitology testing can also be added to this test panel.
